Calculating required amount of wallpaper is essential for wallpaper buyer or end user. By taking the chosen wallpaper roll size and also the wall size, the amount of rolls are determined.

Usually in Singapore, you’re going to get Korean wallpaper, European wallpaper and Japanese wallpapers. The conventional sizes are below.

Korean wallpaper is with 1.06m width and 15.6m length.
European wallpaper is by using 0.5m width and 10m length.
Japanese wallpaper is by using 1.06m width and 50m length.

If you are wanting to buy Korean wallpaper rolls, you need to divide the wall length or width by using the wallpaper width.

In this instance, you have to divide 4 by 1.06. If you get the answers in decimal, you will want to choose the next nearest round number with decimal. In this instance, the answer is 3.77 so you have to take it as 4. Which means, wallpaper installer have to cut the wallpaper roll into 4 pieces to stick onto your wall.

After this, need to calculate the wallpaper length requirement of each panel (total requirement is 4 panel as calculated above)

Each panel needs cutting allowance on the top and bottom as well as the design pattern matching. Cutting allowances are crucial but the design pattern allowance will be depending on what type of design that you are likely to select. Usually, if you’re considering flower or retro design, just add 0.3m. If you choose plain or vertical line, then you don’t need to add this allowance.

So in this instance, your panel length is going to be 2.7m ( that is your wall height) + 0.1m (top cutting allowance) + 0.3m (design pattern repeat matching allowance) + 0.1m (bottom cutting allowance)

Now you are receiving 3.2m panel length. Multiply this panel length with quantity of panels you have already calculated. Yes, the reply is 12.8m. Since the korean wallpaper roll length is 15.6m and you need only 12.8m, yes 1 korean wallpaper roll is enough to cover your wall.
